Development Background

In nursing care sites, the introduction of monitoring sensors and bed-exit sensors is progressing to prevent falls, tumbles, and wandering of people requiring nursing care. With the increase in home nursing care, there is a growing demand for bed-exit sensors that can be easily handled and purchased not only by nursing care facilities and hospitals but also by individuals. There are various types of bed-exit sensors that detect the pre-exit behavior of people requiring nursing care and notify caregivers. However, many of conventional ones, such as mat sensors, sensors installed at the foot of the bed, and infrared surveillance, are extremely expensive due to the large-scale system itself, making it difficult for individuals to adopt them. A wireless communication manufacturer working on this issue adopted EnerCera as the key to developing a wearable bed-exit sensor that is easy to handle, low-cost resulting from simplifying and downsizing, and can be attached very smoothly to the body of the person requiring nursing care.

This can contribute to preventing accidents such as falls from the bed and reducing the burden of nighttime monitoring for caregivers. Ueda Japan Radio provides a system that detects the pre-exit behavior of people requiring nursing care during sleep and notifies their families, contributing to reducing the risk of falls and the burden of nighttime monitoring.
