NGK Insulators, Ltd. (NGK) is supporting Tohoku University’s “Tsunami Balloon Project” by providing its ultra‑thin and compact lithium‑ion rechargeable battery, EnerCera, for use in a demonstration test.
As part of this collaboration, NGK manufactured and supplied EnerCera batteries to serve as the power source for the lighting modules installed inside the evacuation balloons.
This demonstration aims to verify the ability of EnerCera to operate as a thin, lightweight, yet high‑output battery capable of clearly illuminating balloon‑type evacuation guidance signs—even at night or in low‑visibility conditions.
